Fiber Craze
Lately I've been splitting my crafting time between knitting and spinning. I'm still working on finishing up this pair of socks, but here's the finished one sock:
In other news, I joined a fiber club with Spunky Fibers. The nice thing about this one is that it's less pricey than some of the other clubs, as well as being able to be enrolled at any time and cancel at any time. I'm pretty excited, but I won't get the shipment until the very end of the month... when I'll be in finals... which means... no playing with it until I'm done. Ah well. Something to look forward to. :o)
I've been exploring other venues for getting fibers and came upon the Phat Fiber Sample Box. It's a neat box that is filled, let me say FILLED with cool fibery goodness. I've never gotten one, and despite how much I want one this month... I am going to veto it purely based on the fact that I'm going to the Aurora Fiber Faire on Saturday, and I started the Spunky Club this month. But one of these months I'm going to get a Phat Fiber Box. I've heard it sells out within 30 seconds of being posted. I guess it's little liklihood of me getting one for awhile... so the one I get will be the best box of all time. :o)
Simply reading about the boxes and looking at some of the contributor's sites makes me want to buy a lot. I'm resisting so far... but here are a few of the places that I'm extremely excited about: North Star Alpaca (especially their naturally colored alpaca! I love the natural colors...), Extreme Spinning (the Forest Gold Organic Suffolk/Hamshire Roving 7 oz Washable Wool jumped out at me RIGHT AWAY! Look how intense that color is!), and Silver Sun Alpacas (my fave is the Stargazer Lilly Batt... I've never used a batt to spin from, it'd be neat to see what it's like.)
Hope you enjoyed looking thru those fibery sites. I hope that this summer I'll have more time to spin and knit, and that I get better at all of it. :o)
